The TANF Emergency Fund was given new life recently with H.R. 5893, introduced July 28, 2010. Under the “Investing in American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010”, the fund will be renamed The Emergency Fund for Job Creation and Assistance. According to the Center for Law and Social Policy, states could receive up to 30 percent of their adjusted block grant during FY 2011. The provision is expected to cost $3.5 billion over 10 years.
