Funding Available for Technological Solutions to Improving College Readiness/Completion

Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) is a collaboration of philanthropists, educators, and those in fields of technological innovation, that is focused on scaling creative and innovative IT solutions to improve college readiness and completion, particularly for low-income young adults. For the first wave of NGLC funding, the focus is on scaling and fostering adoption of proven technology solutions for college readiness and completion. Therefore, funds will not be provided for research and development of a new solution. Preference will be given in this wave of funding to proposals focused on scaling solutions in the context of high‐enrollment, low‐success developmental, general education or high‐demand occupational programs. Awards will range from $250,000 to $750,000 for a period of up to fifteen months. Eligible applicants include postsecondary institutions, taxable or tax‐exempt organizations, and U.S. federal, state, tribal, and local government agencies. A short five page pre-proposal is due on November 19, 2010. In January, full, 20‐page proposals will be solicited from institutions whose pre‐proposals are selected to advance to the next level.
