The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has announced the availability of $98.5 million in funding for the Workforce Innovation Fund. The Workforce Innovation Fund is to support innovative strategies, policies and systems reforms that can improve the effectiveness of workforce development programs. The grant also seeks to support greater coordination in the delivery of workforce services. Consequently, DOL will work closely with the Departments of Education and Health and Human services to administer the grants.
Approximately 20-30 grants will be given with amounts ranging from $1-12 million. Eligible applicants include state workforce agencies, local workforce investment boards and institutions eligible to apply for WIA section 166 grants. Grants are due on March 22, 2012.
