2012 Promise Neighborhoods Grantees Announced

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has announced the 17 neighborhoods that will receive 2012 Promise Neighborhoods grants.

Ten neighborhoods will receive a combined $4.7 million in Planning Grants while an additional seven communities will receive a combined $30 million in implementation grants. The Promise Neighborhoods program was launched in 2012 and, to date, more than $100 million has be awarded to over 50 communities as they embark on this effort.

• East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood (Lubbock, TX)

• Indianola Promise Community (Indianola, MS) 
• Los Angeles Promise Neighborhood (Los Angeles, CA) 
• Mission Promise Neighborhood (San Francisco, CA) 

Planning Grants 

• Adams County Promise Neighborhood Initiative (Adams County, WI) 
• Camden Cooper Lanning Promise Neighborhood (Camden, NJ) 
• Cypress Hills Promise Neighborhood (Brooklyn, NY) 
• The Everett Freeman Initiative (Corning, CA) 
• Langley Park Promise Neighborhood (Langley Park, MD) 
• Many Flags Promise Neighborhood (Rockland, Cushing, Owls Head, St. George, Thomaston & South Thomaston, Maine) 
• Newark Fairmount Promise Neighborhood (Newark, NJ) 
• Ogden United for Promise Neighborhoods (Ogden, UT)
