Last week, the Promise Neighborhoods Institute at Policy Link (PNI), of which the Center for the Study of Social Policy is a partner, hosted two webinars for communities interested in applying for either a 2012 Promise Neighborhoods Planning or Implementation Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. PNI also recently updated their grant writing guides for both planning and implementation grants to reflect the timeline and rules for the 2012 competitions, though the rules of this year's competitions are very similar to those of past ones. These presentations and guides will provide your community with guidance about a variety of issues related to the development of a Promise Neighborhoods application, including assessing your organization's level of preparedness, understanding the elements of the application, as well as tips to help ensure your community creates the strongest possible application and avoids common problems encountered during the process. The webinars featured a number of people who have been involved with Promise Neighborhood efforts, including representatives from current planning and implementation grantees.
