NCFL will award five organizations a $175,000 grant over three years. In addition to these funds, NCFL will provide training and support to these organizations as their programs are implemented. The grant will fund services that engage families in learning together, help families mentor other families and promote family service learning projects. Applicants should show modifications of existing family engagement in education programs to include the family mentoring and service learning aspects. Specifically, components of a proposal should include:
- Parent and Child Together (PACT) Time –literacy activities that promote interaction between parents and children
- Parent Time –activities that train parents how to be partners in their child’s education
- Mentoring - families mentoring other families to learn together through online and offline activities
- Service Learning - family service learning through sharing on the TFL community website.
