The Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) recently released the report, Building Economic Security in America's Cities, which highlights strategies being adopted and piloted in city governments with local partners to expand economic opportunities for residents.

The report makes four key recommendations for strengthening current efforts:
  • integrate financial empowerment and assett building into city administration
  • align local, state, and federal policies to support innovative asset building practices and eliminate innovation at the local level
  • invest in evaluation to demonstrate the effectiveness of strategies
  • plan for political transition needed to sustain initiatives over time
