On April 11, the Healthy Food Access Portal is hosting a webinar about non-traditional retail initiatives aimed at increasing healthy food in underserved communities. Entitled "New and Innovative Models from the Field: Alternative Retail Strategies", the event will provide examples of successful efforts from around the country and also highlight their many impacts, which include positive improvements in health and economic well-being.

Presenters are scheduled to include:
  • Allison Hagey, Senior Associate, PolicyLink;
  • Rebecca Fliszar, Community Intervention Dietician, Heat Beat Backs: The Heart of New Ulm Project;
  • Dwayne Boudreaux, Owner, Circle Food Store;
  • Mary Donnell, Chief Executive Officer, Green City Growers.
