Microsoft Pledges $10 Million for Employment Training

Microsoft recently announced the expansion of Elevate America to provide technology skills training to people in need of employment. Microsoft will provide $4 million in cash and $6 million in software and technology skills-training support over the next to years to community organizations, particularly those supporting underserved communities with a special focus on the needs of women and workers between ages 18 and 25.

Through a competitive funding process, Microsoft will grant awards to eligible U.S. based nonprofit organizations and their partner organizations which may include: workforce agencies, community colleges, labor organizations,and other nonprofit organizations. Applications are due on Friday, October 8, 2010, at 5:00 P.M. Pacific Time. Successful applicants will be notified of their awards in January 2011.
