RWJ Announces Support for Health Care Payment Reform

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJ) is seeking innovative proposals for payment reform efforts designed to promote high-value health care outcomes. According to RWJ, current health care payment efforts tend to reward systems for delivering a high volume of services as opposed to a higher quality or high- value of care. In the call for proposals, RWJ acknowledges that “fundamental payment reforms are inherently complicated and risky,” but the Foundation believes that value-enhancing payment methods are essential for ensuring high-value care. Eligible applicants for this funding opportunity must be based in the United States or its territories and may be either public entities or nonprofit organizations. Up to $300,000 in total will be awarded with a maximum of three grants between $50,000 and $300,000 each for up to 36 months.

The deadline for brief proposals is October 20, 2010(3 p.m. ET).
