The US Department of Labor announced $38 million in Green Jobs Innovation Fund grants. This funding is an important opportunity to support the growing need for skilled workers. These competitive grants will help workers receive job training in green industry sectors and occupations and access green career pathways. Many forecasts indicate that newly created jobs will be "middle skill" jobs that require education and training beyond high school (but not necessarily a four-year college degree). These middle skill jobs make up nearly half of the national labor market currently and we expect to see growth in key sectors, including "green jobs."
The list of grantees can be found here. Six organizations were awarded grants to serve workers in 19 states and the District.
