The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has announced the 17 neighborhoods that will receive 2012 Promise Neighborhoods grants.

Ten neighborhoods will receive a combined $4.7 million in Planning Grants while an additional seven communities will receive a combined $30 million in implementation grants. The Promise Neighborhoods program was launched in 2012 and, to date, more than $100 million has be awarded to over 50 communities as they embark on this effort.

The 2012 Promise Neighborhood grantees include:

  • Boston Promise Initiative (Boston & Roxbury, MA) 
  • Chula Vista Promise Neighborhood (Chula Vista, CA) 
  • East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood (Lubbock, TX) 
  • Five Promises for Two Generations (DCPNI) (Washington, D.C.) 
  • Indianola Promise Community (Indianola, MS) 
  • Los Angeles Promise Neighborhood (Los Angeles, CA) 
  • Mission Promise Neighborhood (San Francisco, CA) 

Planning Grants 
  • Adams County Promise Neighborhood Initiative (Adams County, WI) 
  • Camden Cooper Lanning Promise Neighborhood (Camden, NJ) 
  • Cypress Hills Promise Neighborhood (Brooklyn, NY) 
  • The Everett Freeman Initiative (Corning, CA) 
  • Langley Park Promise Neighborhood (Langley Park, MD) 
  • Many Flags Promise Neighborhood (Rockland, Cushing, Owls Head, St. George, Thomaston & South Thomaston, Maine) 
  • Newark Fairmount Promise Neighborhood (Newark, NJ) 
  • Ogden United for Promise Neighborhoods (Ogden, UT) 
  • Promise Heights, A Promise Neighborhood (Baltimore, MD) 
  • Rogers Promise Neighborhood Project (Marshalltown, IA)
