The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has announced the 16 school districts that have received 2012 Race to the Top – District grants. These 16 districts – which span 11 states – will receive four-year grants that range from $10 million to $40 million.
This year’s Race to the Top competition – compared to previous years – is focused on local school districts and will fund efforts that will help individual districts develop strategies to improve student learning, enhance educator effectiveness and build positive relationships between students, teachers and parents. A total of 372 districts submitted applications for this year’s District competition.
